Some things meant to keep secret.

Never admit that you feel crazy. No one will ever let you forget it.
God forbid they find out you did something crazy...

...you just may lose your Head and be forever guilty of everything you've said.

As Andy Warhol wrote, "Once you see someone go crazy, you will never see them the same way again. In the back of your mind will always be, 'Wow. They could go crazy again. You just never know.'"

Oh, Yoko!

The Ono Band show was entertaining and fulfilling, beautiful and strong. It was strange seeing big time players on the sidelines like Cornelius and Yuka Honda, but they all looked super cool of course and look who they were playing with. The Queen, you guessed it.

I've decided Yoko's an avant-garde opera singer. no words, just sounds, but sounds that EMOTE. Plus her mere presence gave off a very very bright positive vibe. It was so cool also to see Sean Lennon play piano. If you know what I mean. He's very good, if only beautifully melodic. I don't know much about technique. He also played bass and guitar. Played some mean licks he told us "Eric" had just shown him (you know, Clapton). At the end several other people showed up onstage like opener, Deerhoof, and Harper Simon (Paul Simon's son). Along with them, the *We are Plastic Ono Band*, Yoko lead an old-fashioned group rendition of Give Peace A Chance.

I was afraid Give Peace a Chance would be hokey. A part of me shrank inside when it was announced. I kind of wanted to leave. I don't know entirely why, but it turned out fantastic. I let myself dork out on it. There was just one annoying, crazy, finger-peace-sign-swaying girl. Otherwise, WONDERFUL.

The noise hit that good spot. Noise+heavy bass pop rhythm = most of their songs.

Yoko + me hearing Yoko = happy.
Yoko + me hearing Yoko and shrieking guitar noise too = supreme happy.

Thank You Yoko!

New York (Japanese) State of Mind - Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band LIVE! TONIGHT! SOLD OUT!

Someday, when I have money, I will never miss the annual All Tomorrow's Parties festival held in Tokyo* and usually featuring Sonic Youth. One year Sonic Youth curated it. Ouch! And I say that with love.

Tonight, however, is a warm-up rehearsal for The Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band in NYC for their impending tour. The current Ono Band is Yoko and Sean, Yuka Honda from Cibo Matto and Cornelius from Cornelius, that crazy-cool guy. Special Guest? Yes? SONIC YOUTH. Yes? SONIC YOUTH and those crazy Japanese. All at once.

DAMN. Not a show this lady wants to miss. So I say to myself, someday, when I have money, I will fly to New York or New Orleans or Chicago or wherever I have to go to see such shows.

I think the new Ono Band is going to be INSANE live. Will see them next week in Oakland.
Better pick up the new record, and prepare.

Cheers to the nearly-80 Yoko. Cheers, Yoko!!

*upon further inspection, I've found this festival takes place in locales other than Tokyo, but that would be the one, oh yeah.
