recently i filled out a health assessment on a health and wellness website. i've had to build a site map for the media kit. i'll also write for it. i did it solely as research, to know what the tool might offer advertisers (gross).
one of the questions was "Do you wish for (or think about) death?"
what kind of question is that? i'd like to know. i mean, why are those questions combined? everyone thinks about death, but wishing for it...isn't that something separate?
not for me.
looking at death as a relief or a freedom is the only way to deal with it as the ridiculously cruel thing we were born to do. and that is something i wish for (sometimes) and think about (at least once a day).

Having worked in the healthcare industry, and knowing about their health assessments (sometimes called health risk assessments, which seems pessimisstic to me), they're trying to deduce if you're suicidal. Generally, though, it's a lame and ham-handed attempt at quick diagnosis. Most don't go into further detail, and so if you check yes, you're immediately pigeon-holed for being honest.
Oh, and if you ever, ever have to fill out a health insurance application, and it asks you if you've at any point in your life suffered from depression, the answer is always NO, NO, NO. The evil bastards have turned me down 3 separate times for simply telling the truth. Oh, and if you tell the truth about it one time, and then don't on following applications, they can get that information too. That would explain the last 2 rejections. Assholes.
Yeppers, this is true if you're self-employed or unemployed. Unfortunate, but there it is. The US healthcare system is in business first to make money, second to provide healthcare.
