There's No Place Like Hole...
There's no place like Hole. There's no place like Hole.
There's no place like Hole. There's no place like Hole.
Just click your heels together and they'll...break?
Nice imagery. Hole's old covers were always excellent. Who is the artist?
Glass slipper. Who except Courtney would conceive of the Glass Slipper - that finally finds its home on the foot of Cinderella - breaking and cutting her foot up and ruining everything? The fantasy. The true love. The disaster. The pain.
LOVE it, love.
Title song?
Well, it's nice and heavy. That's good. Her voice sounds like Live Through This - back when she sang straight and was only 29 - unfortunately she still believes in Verse Chorus Verse and her choruses are totally common and disappointing.
First song, first impression: better than anything to come out of her mouth since 1994.
(I'd also like to add a FUCKYEAH.)
One more thing to add. I have new-found respect for this woman. She is one brave motherfucker: getting up on that stage, knowing she's being silently judged 5 million times over for being a fuck-up, for losing everything, for going insane.
BRAVO LADY.

Some things meant to keep secret.
Never admit that you feel crazy. No one will ever let you forget it.
God forbid they find out you did something crazy...
...you just may lose your Head and be forever guilty of everything you've said.
As Andy Warhol wrote, "Once you see someone go crazy, you will never see them the same way again. In the back of your mind will always be, 'Wow. They could go crazy again. You just never know.'"
Oh, Yoko!
The Ono Band show was entertaining and fulfilling, beautiful and strong. It was strange seeing big time players on the sidelines like Cornelius and Yuka Honda, but they all looked super cool of course and look who they were playing with. The Queen, you guessed it.
I've decided Yoko's an avant-garde opera singer. no words, just sounds, but sounds that EMOTE. Plus her mere presence gave off a very very bright positive vibe. It was so cool also to see Sean Lennon play piano. If you know what I mean. He's very good, if only beautifully melodic. I don't know much about technique. He also played bass and guitar. Played some mean licks he told us "Eric" had just shown him (you know, Clapton). At the end several other people showed up onstage like opener, Deerhoof, and Harper Simon (Paul Simon's son). Along with them, the *We are Plastic Ono Band*, Yoko lead an old-fashioned group rendition of Give Peace A Chance.
I was afraid Give Peace a Chance would be hokey. A part of me shrank inside when it was announced. I kind of wanted to leave. I don't know entirely why, but it turned out fantastic. I let myself dork out on it. There was just one annoying, crazy, finger-peace-sign-swaying girl. Otherwise, WONDERFUL.
The noise hit that good spot. Noise+heavy bass pop rhythm = most of their songs.
Yoko + me hearing Yoko = happy.
Yoko + me hearing Yoko and shrieking guitar noise too = supreme happy.
Thank You Yoko!

New York (Japanese) State of Mind - Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band LIVE! TONIGHT! SOLD OUT!
Someday, when I have money, I will never miss the annual All Tomorrow's Parties festival held in Tokyo* and usually featuring Sonic Youth. One year Sonic Youth curated it. Ouch! And I say that with love.
Tonight, however, is a warm-up rehearsal for The Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band in NYC for their impending tour. The current Ono Band is Yoko and Sean, Yuka Honda from Cibo Matto and Cornelius from Cornelius, that crazy-cool guy. Special Guest? Yes? SONIC YOUTH. Yes? SONIC YOUTH and those crazy Japanese. All at once.
DAMN. Not a show this lady wants to miss. So I say to myself, someday, when I have money, I will fly to New York or New Orleans or Chicago or wherever I have to go to see such shows.
I think the new Ono Band is going to be INSANE live. Will see them next week in Oakland.
Better pick up the new record, and prepare.
Cheers to the nearly-80 Yoko. Cheers, Yoko!!
*upon further inspection, I've found this festival takes place in locales other than Tokyo, but that would be the one, oh yeah.

Who knew he was ever so hot. ever ever so hot. Andy Warhol must have been aware of this.
"He looks like an angel,
his skin makes me cry!"
Christopher Walken is a regular on twitter. He's abstractly hilarious. His handle is "Trelvix," in case you're into that: "Yes. You can die from a paper cut. Eventually."

"Ceranation"
This picture has made me laugh and laugh for days, how can I not post it.
It depicts Michael Cera with a new hairstyle done by one of the self-proclaimed "Guidos" from the show Jersey Shore. These people were all over my magazines last week and I had no idea. I felt culturally clueless. Which is annoying.
Guy told me Jersey Show is "Bad. Real bad. But in a kind-of good way."
After a few viewings it seems no different than any Real World seasons, but the Michael Cera clips are adorable and smile-ilicious. Who knew when Arrested Development started that George Michael would turn out so irresistible.
Love that he is seeing an expensive stylist; how can you miss it. Until the "Guidos" take over.
Beck and Charlotte
Beck has written and produced an album for Charlotte Gainsbourg. People all over Europe are freaking out about it. Not available here. This writer gets frustrated. This writer must have new Beck and Charlotte record. What to do. Drum fingers on hard surface. Think think think.
Until then, at least there is a luscious video to watch.

Making Coffee Thoughts
as i make coffee thoughtsrush out of my head
my ears, fastlikewater.
and everything i say in my head is beautiful
with clarity
and s p a c e like the great poets
like
brautigan,
carroll,
ginsberg,
free-flowing
verse, it comes in a song.
what am i thinking with such grace
in the morning cold feet standing at the coffee maker,
what is so beautiful
and loose
and clear
and poetic?
the funny thing here is
there is no record of what has transpired.
i am vapor.
the beauty the cloud that floats through my head
to the other side
has evaporated to the point of no return.
